This is a hybrid role in Vancouver.
Pay Range: $51/hr – $56/hr
Join a renowned game development studio creating groundbreaking experiences for a global audience. As a Level Artist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping immersive and visually stunning game worlds, collaborating with a talented team to bring captivating stories to life. Your expertise in environment art will contribute directly to the visual quality and performance of the game, ensuring players are captivated by every detail.
As a Level Artist on this team, you will:
- Proactively collaborate with various disciplines to identify and resolve workflow challenges.
- Optimize runtime performance by reducing content complexity, lighting costs, and draw calls while preserving visual fidelity.
- Utilize performance analysis tools to pinpoint performance bottlenecks and communicate findings to relevant teams.
- Collaborate with Level Art, Technical Animation, and Character Art teams to troubleshoot performance issues related to environments, animations, and character assets.
- Educate, document technical processes, and communicate effectively with external vendors.
- Address and resolve bugs within the game as they arise.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of video game production pipelines.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, particularly in testing and debugging technical issues.
- Strong proficiency in a leading game engine.
- Advanced knowledge of shader creation and optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D art software (e.g., Photoshop, Maya).
- Scripting/programming experience in Python, C#, and C++.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience with Houdini or Substance Designer.
- Prior experience working on shipped game titles, preferably AAA titles.
