As a Senior, Design Researcher, your responsibilities will include:

User Discovery & Strategy:

  • Lead comprehensive user discovery initiatives, employing a diverse toolkit including user interviews and surveys, user journeys, storyboards, and contextual inquiries.

  • Critically assess and identify gaps between business expectations and user experience strategies, proactively proposing solutions.

  • Leverage a deep understanding of current trends in user consumption habits to develop and refine interaction design and user experience strategies.

  • Anticipate and mitigate risks during information synthesis, independently arriving at innovative solutions for interactive designs.

  • Analyze and interpret existing data from various sources such as web analytics, user surveys, and customer support calls to inform design decisions.

Managing Functional Partnerships:

  • Proactively identify and map key stakeholders, conducting thorough analyses to understand their interests and profiles.

  • Build and manage robust functional relationships, adapting your style and best practices to accommodate diverse cultural contexts.

  • Partner with stakeholders to understand their technical needs and share relevant information effectively.

  • Engage with internal and external business partners regularly, establishing credibility and facilitating seamless information exchange.

Design Research & Insights:

  • Independently propose hypotheses for design research, contributing to the modification of research approaches and execution plans.

  • Guide research processes by providing expert input on the type, quality, and quantity of data to be collected.

  • Verify the reliability and accuracy of information through detailed checks, detecting and addressing any gaps or inconsistencies in data.

  • Analyze and interpret relevant data to extract meaningful results and insights.

  • Translate research insights and metrics (including those from external sources) into actionable recommendations that inform both design and business strategies.

Influencing & Building Stakeholder Consensus:

  • Communicate articulately and concisely in stakeholder meetings, effectively conveying complex information and addressing ambiguity.

  • Build productive, collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders across multiple teams.

  • Influence teams and stakeholders to take meaningful action through sound, evidence-based recommendations.

  • Independently prepare clear, concise, logically structured, and fact-based reports and materials.

  • Actively seek and provide constructive feedback, anticipate needs and questions, and respond appropriately.

Driving Customer/Client Needs:

  • Build and maintain strong customer relations to deeply understand customer requirements and problems.

  • Create detailed customer journey touchpoints to anticipate product enhancements by preempting gaps and risks in the product experience.

  • Simplify and improve processes to reduce turnaround times, increase effectiveness, and ultimately drive customer delight.

Usability Testing & Iteration:

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of testing against design specifications.

  • Identify major activities and documentation associated with user acceptance testing.

  • Develop procedures and guidelines for test developers and end-users, and explain the features and objectives of alpha and beta tests.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in user experience strategies, user research methodologies, and interaction design.

  • Proven ability to manage functional partnerships and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

  • Experience with usability testing and iteration processes.

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating successful user experience projects is a plus.
