Our well known Canadian banking client is looking to add a hybrid (T4) Interaction Designer to one of their teams:

Start: November/December

Duration: 12 months with a possible extension

This role has a hybrid schedule, working 4 days per week onsite in our client’s Toronto office and 1 day per week remotely.

*A background check will need to be completed/cleared prior to starting this assignment

As a key contributor, you will be instrumental in shaping the experiences across a diverse portfolio of digital products. You will work within an agile, iterative process, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders to translate complex ideas into compelling design visions. Your natural problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and talent for facilitation will be crucial as you guide projects from initial ideation through to successful implementation, directly influencing how millions interact with essential services.

**What You’ll Do:**

* **Interaction Design Strategy & Leadership:**
* Leverage your deep understanding of user interface patterns and behaviors to enhance user comprehension and optimize task performance.
* Utilize visualizations and interactions to support analytic thinking, particularly with large datasets.
* Facilitate design critiques, evaluate interactions for inclusivity, and provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams.
* Lead ideation sessions and collaborative work activities, fostering innovation and shared understanding.
* Act as the primary interaction design subject-matter expert, guiding the product design team.
* **Interaction Artifact Creation:**
* Apply comprehensive interaction design theory, research data, and best practices to inform critical design decisions.
* Design complex artifacts that effectively communicate task flows, touchpoints, user behaviors, and information exchange.
* Develop complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate design concepts.
* Create detailed prototypes that provide precise delivery specifications for development teams.
* Present sophisticated interaction design work to senior stakeholders, articulating rationale and impact.
* **Research and Testing:**
* Facilitate usability testing sessions to gather critical user feedback.
* Actively participate in or initiate research activities to deepen user understanding.
* Conduct research into interaction design strategies within the financial services sector and perform competitive audits relevant to specific design or business objectives.
* Perform thorough pattern, micro-interaction, and component design audits as needed to ensure consistency and excellence.

**Qualifications:**

**Must-have:**
* BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms.
* Experience in an applied research setting, including integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
* Demonstrated ability to articulate design strategy, rationale, and logic, clearly describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions.
* Demonstrated expertise with industry-standard design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Mural, and UserTesting.com.

**Nice to have:**
* MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field.
* Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
* Appreciation for the potential of ‘design thinking’ methodologies.
* Experience working within a large organization and within an agile environment.
