We are seeking a talented professional to join our dynamic team, focusing on the intersection of interaction and visual design. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in defining and refining the user experience across our digital offerings, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams in an agile environment. Your passion for problem-solving, coupled with your strong communication and facilitation skills, will drive the creation of delightful and impactful designs from concept to implementation.

**What You’ll Do:**

* **Shape Design Strategy:**
* Leverage your deep understanding of user interface patterns and behaviors to enhance user comprehension and optimize task performance.
* Design compelling visualizations and interactions that facilitate analytic thinking, especially with complex data sets.
* Lead design critiques, evaluate interactions for inclusivity, and provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
* Facilitate engaging ideation sessions and collaborative work activities to foster innovation.
* Serve as the subject-matter expert for interaction design within the product design team.
* **Create Impactful Artifacts:**
* Apply a comprehensive understanding of interaction design theory, visual design theory, research data, and best practices to inform every design decision.
* Develop complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate design ideas.
* Produce sophisticated prototypes that provide precise delivery specifications for development teams.
* Present and articulate interaction design work effectively to senior stakeholders.
* **Drive Research and Testing:**
* Facilitate comprehensive usability testing sessions to gather critical user feedback.
* Actively participate in or initiate various research activities to deepen user understanding.
* Investigate interaction design strategies within the broader industry and conduct competitive audits relevant to specific design or business objectives.
* Perform detailed pattern, micro-interaction, and component design audits as needed.

**What You’ll Need to Succeed:**

* A BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* A compelling portfolio showcasing application design samples.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms.
* Proven experience in an applied research setting, including integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
* Demonstrated ability to articulate design strategy, rationale, and logic, clearly describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions.
* Expertise with industry-standard design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Mural, and UserTesting.com.

**Nice to have:**

* An MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field.
* A strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
* An appreciation for the potential of ‘design thinking’ methodologies.
* Experience working within a large organization and within an agile development environment.
