This is a hybrid role in Vancouver.
Pay Range: $30/hr – $33/hr

Your expertise in testing game modes will ensure seamless and captivating gameplay for millions of players worldwide. Dive into the heart of game development, focusing on the intricacies of online PVP and PVE game modes. Your keen eye for detail and deep understanding of game mechanics will be essential in identifying and resolving critical issues, ensuring a polished and immersive player experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct rigorous testing of match flow, gameplay systems, combat, AI, multiplayer functionality, maps, environments, performance, and stability.
  • Verify objective flow, timers, scoring systems, wave logic, round transitions, and escalation systems.
  • Evaluate enemy and ally AI behavior, pathfinding, combat response, and spawn logic.
  • Validate host/client behavior, including replication of animations and stats.
  • Test ability usage, cooldown systems, and AI reactions to player actions.
  • Assess drop-in/drop-out co-op functionality, objective sync, scoring, network stability, and desync issues.
  • Identify desyncs, lag, or matchmaking inconsistencies.
  • Verify spawn zones, objective locations, player access areas, collision issues, exploits, and pathing bugs.
  • Ensure interactive objects behave as expected across gameplay variants.
  • Verify lighting, materials, and post-processing effects for consistency.
  • Identify memory usage issues, framerate drops, and stability concerns under load.
  • Test game stability across multiple hardware targets.
  • Monitor for audio/visual streaming issues, pop-ins, or sync problems.
  • Write test briefs, instructions, and playtest documentation.
  • Estimate testing scope and effort based on feature complexity.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Multiple development cycle experience with a focus on Online PVP & PVE game modes
  • Strong understanding of Match Flow & Gameplay Systems Testing, Combat & AI Testing, Multiplayer Functionality Testing, Map & Environmental Testing, and Performance & Stability Testing
  • Experience writing test briefs, instructions, and playtest documentation.
  • Ability to estimate testing scope and effort based on feature complexity.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking and test planning tools.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills, with attention to reproducibility and clarity.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn proprietary tools and pipelines, and to adapt quickly to evolving content.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Game engine experience
  • Experience with collaboration software such as Jira, Confluence, Perforce and document management platform.
  • Adaptable teaching skills
  • Familiarity with similar games in the genre
