Become a key player in shaping exceptional digital experiences for a leading financial institution in Canada as a User Experience Designer. Partnering with Aquent, you’ll join a team that’s pushing the boundaries of digital product design, striving to improve the lives of millions of people. Your expertise in user-centered design will be essential in crafting intuitive and engaging digital products that inspire and delight.
As a User Experience Designer, you will be an integral part of an agile team, collaborating with cross-functional partners to transform user needs into elegant and effective solutions. You’ll be involved in every step of the design process, from ideation and prototyping to testing and implementation, making a tangible impact on the user experience.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop design strategies based on user interface patterns and behaviors to enhance user comprehension and improve task performance.
- Use visualizations and interactions to support analytic thinking with large datasets.
- Facilitate design critiques, evaluate interactions for inclusivity, and provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Lead ideation sessions and collaborative work activities, acting as the interaction design subject matter expert.
- Create complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate design ideas.
- Develop high-fidelity prototypes to provide detailed specifications for development teams.
- Present interaction design work to senior stakeholders, effectively communicating design rationale and strategic vision.
- Facilitate usability testing and participate in research activities to gather user insights.
- Research interaction design strategies within the financial services sector and conduct competitive audits.
- Perform pattern, micro-interaction, and component design audits to ensure consistency and best practices.
Must-Haves:
- BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Portfolio showcasing application design samples.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms.
- Experience in an applied research setting, including integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate design strategy, rationale, and logic, including describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions.
- Proven expertise with design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Mural, and UserTesting.com.
Nice-to-Haves:
- MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field.
- Strong understanding of various research methods and their application during different product phases.
- Appreciation for the potential of “design thinking.”
- Experience working within a large organization and an agile environment.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $58 to $63.75 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
