Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources is a strategic business partner and organizational leader responsible for shaping the company’s people strategy and driving workforce engagement. This role oversees all aspects of HR, including talent acquisition, employee relations, organizational design, leadership development, compensation & benefits, compliance, and performance management.
Reporting to the Executive Team, the Director provides strategic HR guidance that aligns with business objectives while fostering a high-performance, values-driven culture. This role also ensures consistent execution of HR policies across locations and supports GLOVIS affiliates as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR liaison to the Executive Team; advise on strategy, workforce planning, and policy development.
- Drive organizational design, succession planning, and workforce development to support long-term business growth.
- Lead HR staff in delivering company-wide and location-specific initiatives that align with corporate goals.
- Oversee compensation & benefits programs to maintain competitive positioning and internal equity.
- Champion employee engagement, company culture, and leadership development programs across all sites.
- Manage performance management systems in alignment with GHQ and AHQ requirements.
- Lead talent acquisition strategies including executive-level recruitment and workforce planning.
- Oversee HR compliance including employment law, labor relations, attendance, headcount, and reporting.
- Provide coaching and guidance to leaders and managers to effectively address employee relations issues.
- Evaluate HR metrics and reporting via Excel, Power BI, and HRMS systems to support data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborate with affiliates to ensure best practice sharing and consistency in HR practices.
- Represent HR in negotiations, sensitive issue resolution, and organizational initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Human Resources Expertise – Deep knowledge of HR strategy, labor law, HRMS systems, benefits, and compensation.
- Strategic Leadership – Proven ability to align HR initiatives with overall business objectives.
- Employee Relations – Skilled at building trust, resolving conflicts, and enhancing workforce engagement.
- Data-Driven Decision Making – Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Power BI dashboards.
- Communication & Influence – Ability to present, negotiate, and partner with executive leadership.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- 15+ years of progressive HR and leadership experience required.
- 7–10+ years of supervisory/management experience required.
- Logistics or manufacturing industry experience highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience in compensation, benefits, and broker negotiations strongly preferred.
- Certifications: SPHR or SHRM-SCP required; PHR/SHRM-CP, CCP, or Leadership Certificate required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Employment law expertise.
- Leadership training and development program experience.
- Experience supporting multi-site or affiliate organizations.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $183k to $210k. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
