UX Engineer

Overview

Are you a designer who brings ideas to life through code? Or a front-end engineer who thrives in the design process? We’re looking for a Senior UX Engineer (contract) to join the Developer Division’s design studio. This role will be focused on prototyping and evolving AI-powered developer experiences.
You’ll work closely with designers, PMs, other UX engineers and engineers to define and validate new interaction patterns—especially those involving intelligent agents. You’ll also contribute to internal tools, reference implementations, and occasionally production code. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves quickly, and bridges design and engineering with ease.

Scope and Responsibilities
• Build working prototypes to explore and evaluate AI-driven desktop and web experiences.
• communicating technical limitations & opportunities to stakeholders
• Develop agent-based interaction flows and test orchestration patterns in real-time environments.
• Translate design concepts into reference code and reusable components.
• Collaborate daily with designers to refine interaction details and edge cases.
• Partner with engineering to fix front-end and UI bugs during the shipping cycle.
• Create and maintain internal tools that support design, PM, and research workflows.
• Help define and build a design system that supports agentic interaction patterns.

Key Competencies
• Experience developing complex prototypes of well-designed user experiences.
• Experience working with AI agents, prompt orchestration, or multi-step task flows.
• Strong understanding of the UX design process and how to support it through code.
• Ability to choose the right tool for the job—whether it’s Figma, Framer, React, or raw HTML/CSS/JS.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with shifting priorities.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to communicate across disciplines.

Basic Qualifications
• 3–5 years in a front-end development or UX engineering role, preferably within a design or UI team.
• Deep understanding of at least one of the following (and familiarity with others):
• Modern HTML/CSS3/JavaScript
• React, Vue, Angular, Node, Electron, React Native, Svelte, Solid
• C#, WPF/XAML
• Experience with responsive/adaptive design.
• Online portfolio and GitHub repo demonstrating UX prototyping and front-end implementation.
• Strong attention to visual detail and a passion for design.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a design-related discipline.
