This is a hybrid (3 days a week onsite) position in downtown Vancouver, BC. It will start as a 6 month engagements and could extend up to 18 months.

Join a leading technology innovator as a Software Test Engineer, specializing in cosmetic content validation for a highly anticipated game. Your expertise in character skins, weapon skins, and other in-game customization elements will directly impact the visual quality and player experience. Collaborate with talented artists, tech artists, and QA leads to ensure flawless implementation and a visually stunning final product.

As a key member of the Development Support team, you’ll play a crucial role in the game’s development lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with development teams, providing early testing, creating comprehensive documentation (test cases, test briefs, etc.), and ensuring a smooth QA process. Your contributions will be essential to maintaining the game’s high visual standards and delivering an exceptional gaming experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Validate cosmetic content across various game modes, including model appearance, equip functionality, and animation alignment.
  • Track the availability of new cosmetic content for testing, coordinating with Production and maintaining visibility across branches and builds.
  • Write clear and concise testing instructions for individual content items or themed bundles.
  • Estimate testing effort based on content volume and delivery scope.
  • Collaborate with Art, Tech Art, and QA leads to ensure content meets visual quality standards.
  • Meticulously document and organize test coverage, known issues, and cross-mode validation.
  • Communicate effectively with QA, Dev Support, and Production teams.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in multiple development cycles, with a focus on cosmetic content validation.
  • Proven understanding of character skins, weapon skins, executions, and other in-game customization elements.
  • Experience validating customization content in core game modes.
  • Ability to track and coordinate the testing of new cosmetic content.
  • Strong experience writing clear and concise testing instructions.
  • Ability to estimate testing effort based on content scope.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience with Unreal Engine, particularly related to character and weapon content setup.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Perforce, and SharePoint.
  • Experience reviewing cosmetic implementation within in-game menus and customization screens.
  • Knowledge of the game series and its customization systems.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $28 to $33 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
