This is a hybrid position in downtown Vancouver, BC. It will start as a 6+ month engagement with the possibility to extend up to 18 months.

Join a leading technology innovator as a Software Test Engineer, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of gaming. Your expertise will ensure exceptional gaming experiences for players worldwide.

As a key member of the Development Support team, you will collaborate closely with development teams to provide early testing, meticulous documentation, and comprehensive QA support. Your contributions will be essential in streamlining the development process and ensuring the delivery of high-quality gaming experiences. Be the go-to expert for testing and validation, providing valuable insights and feedback to both QA and development teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct early testing of metagame systems, including progression, customization, in-game economy, and frontend UX.
  • Create comprehensive documentation, including test cases, test briefs, and QA documentation.
  • Provide feedback to QA Leads on the health of assigned areas/features.
  • Offer feedback to development teams on the testing of their area/features.
  • Act as the primary contact for the QA team, addressing design questions and providing support.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for development teams regarding testing status and adjustments.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience in multiple development cycles with a strong focus on metagame systems, including progression, customization, in-game economy, and frontend UX.
  • Deep understanding of player progression systems, including XP, currency, objectives, rewards, and unlock flows across game modes.
  • Familiarity with UI/UX design, reward structures, and system dependencies that affect gameplay integration.
  • Ability to test and validate cosmetic systems, including character/weapon skins, emotes, expressions, and banner content across multiple surfaces and modes.
  • Proven ability to write clear, concise testing instructions or briefs focused on layered systems with backend dependencies.
  • Skilled in estimating testing efforts, identifying edge cases, and scoping test plans for systemic features.
  • Eagerness to learn proprietary tools, backend systems, and Live Ops pipelines, while continuously refining testing and technical skills.
  • Detailed documentation and organizational skills for maintaining test cases, bug tracking, and cross-discipline knowledge sharing.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfortable working collaboratively with QA, Development, and Production teams.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience with a specific game engine.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Perforce, and SharePoint.
  • Adaptable teaching skills (teaching to lots of different types of learners).
  • Familiarity with specific game franchises.

Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
