As a Set Decorator, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team responsible for the design and implementation of set decorations for a variety of environments. Your creativity and attention to detail will shape the guest experience, ensuring that every element contributes to the overall storytelling. You will collaborate with various teams, from concept development to installation, to ensure that the final product aligns with the creative vision. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine your artistic skills with technical expertise, contributing to projects that leave a lasting impact.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and implement set decorations for various locations, including attractions, retail spaces, restaurants, and landscapes.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as Creative, Architectural, Engineering, and Park Operations, to ensure seamless integration of design elements.
• Research historical information and design technologies to support the creative process.
• Develop budgets and schedules for projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and financial constraints.
• Supervise contractors and oversee the installation of props and dressings.
• Maintain accurate documentation of the design process and implemented designs.
• Create and execute presentations and mock-ups to communicate design concepts.
• Must-Haves:
• Professional experience as a Set Decorator or Assistant Set Decorator, demonstrating the ability to create designs within established parameters.
• Working knowledge of theatrical design and technical aspects of set decoration, including construction methods.
• Familiarity with construction materials, hardware, and tools.
• Understanding of World History, with a focus on Decorative Arts.
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD drafting programs.
• Strong organizational skills, including experience with budget management and scheduling.
• Proficiency in computer programs such as Word and Excel.
• BA or MFA in Theater, Film, Art, Interior/Retail Design, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a related environment.
• Proficiency in advanced 3D modeling software.
• 2-4 years of design experience, including show set design.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with SketchUp software.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $62.33 to $69.26 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
