Gaming Technical Animator

This is a hybrid role in Redmond, WA.
Pay Range: $40/hr – $50/hr​

Our ideal candidate will help bridge the gap between our animation team and animation developers with the goal of creating compelling and believable animation in Unreal Engine. The candidate must have the skills to support artists, designers and developers and ideally have a passion for both animation technology and character driven games.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Partner with the Technical Animation Lead, Animation Lead and Programmers to help implement and support Animation Blueprint systems.
• Partner with animators to help develop and implement ragdoll physics and procedural animation systems. Help define, create and maintain the animation pipeline and toolset between Maya and Unreal.
• Partner with animators, tech artists, and engineers to improve animation runtime performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• A portfolio that demonstrates technical animation experience with Animation Blueprints, Linked Animation Layers, and Animation Graphs in Unreal Engine.
• Experience with physics, ragdoll, and procedural animation systems.
• A strong understanding of networked gameplay animation and design, and how they relate to the player experience.
• Previous applicable professional experience with high-end game engines as a TA, TD or tools programmer.
• Expert knowledge of AAA animation pipelines, tools, software, and 3 rd  party solutions. 
• Prior animation systems development, training and documentation experience.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

PLUSES:

• Experience with vertex animation solutions.
• Strong understanding of the principles of animation and how best to adapt those to create believable characters and experiences. 
• Experience working with both key frame animation and motion capture data driven projects. 
• Passion for making groundbreaking games, with an appreciation of current industry trends. 
• Experience writing custom tool solutions in MEL, Python. 
• A passion for the gaming and FPS

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $40/hr – $50/hr.
