Summary:
The Music and Social Media Copywriter is responsible for crafting compelling copy for our various social media platforms as well as the Music platform. Candidates should possess strong social media writing experience and a background within the music industry. Ideal candidates will have experience editing and writing for major music media brands.
Responsibilities:
- Write and edit engaging copy for social media channels with a focus on music and original content.
- Develop copy tailored for self-service platforms such as Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, etc.
- Utilize expert understanding of audience engagement and retention to select resonant story angles and creative approaches.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop strategic plans to reach target audiences and achieve media objectives.
- Analyze data to optimize copy performance across various social platforms.
- Stay informed about industry trends, news, and current events to react swiftly and flexibly in copywriting efforts.
- Convey brand and artist voice effectively through written communication.
- Write music featuring copy and album product notes for Music platform with flair while using established style guide principles.
- Ensure writing is inclusive and representative of diverse audiences and global consumer brands.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a music writer and/or editor for recognized media brands.
- Proven track record of writing and editing music-related content for social media platforms.
- Strong understanding of audience engagement tactics, storytelling techniques, and creative specifications.
- Ability to act swiftly and with agility as content is created and posted.
- Familiarity with artists and music creator marketing strategies.
- Ability to work with senior editors to produce creative copy for Apple Music platform and align with social copy.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to adhere to and be familiar with company style guides and writing standards.
- Ability to analyze data, visualize insights, and tailor communications to stakeholders with varying levels of digital media literacy
- Extensive knowledge of music and pop culture, and able to convey brand and artist voice through copy.
- Ability to build strong relationships within and across teams and organizations.
- Proficiency in writing using inclusive language for diverse audiences.
- Must be able to work on-site in Culver City, California at least three days/week on hybrid schedule.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $30.33 to $33.71 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
