As part of our continuing effort to help you understand the shifts and trends in the workforce, we surveyed over 1,300 marketing, creative, and digital talent across the U.S. and Canada. A few weeks ago we shared Part I of our 2021 Talent Insights, which exposed why we believe The Great Resignation is over.
For Part II, we explore why hybrid work is the new normal. It contains salaries which have been broken out by geography in the U.S. and Canada by cost of living. What is Hybrid Work?
It’s safe to say that the shift to remote and hybrid work, as a result of the pandemic, has gone even better than expected. (Hybrid work is defined as when an employee works, at least part of the time, in a remote location.) Productivity is up, overhead is down, and no one misses those 90-minute commutes to the office. In fact, it’s gone so well that talent are simply refusing to go back to the way things were. How well companies can adapt to (and even embrace) these changed expectations will, in many ways, determine how competitive they are when it comes to attracting and retaining the best talent in the years to come.
98% of talent want to work remotely at least some of the time.
We found that flexible work has become so important to employees that without it, they’ll turn down job offers or even quit. Only 2% of talent surveyed would want to be in an office full time if given the choice. 55% would choose a hybrid work environment, and 43% wish to work remotely only. Companies that fail to recognize this important change in attitude will fall behind companies that are able to hire the best talent within or outside of their geographic area. The future is uncertain, but the technology allows for flexibility when it comes to the place of work. Companies need to embrace it or risk losing ground to competitors.
