Step into the forefront of immersive audio and help shape the future of sound in spatial computing. We’re partnering with a leading tech innovator seeking a seasoned Sound Effects Editor to join their in-house sound team. You’ll be instrumental in crafting captivating soundscapes for cutting-edge immersive videos, pushing the boundaries of audio and redefining how we experience sound.
As a Sound Effects Editor, you’ll collaborate closely with the Audio Lead and the broader team to design and edit sound effects across diverse genres and styles. Your expertise will be crucial in building truly immersive experiences that blur the lines between the virtual and real worlds. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your traditional sound editing skills while pioneering new techniques in a dynamic and innovative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and edit sound effects for immersive videos, focusing on creating realistic and engaging soundscapes.
- Work closely with the Audio Lead and team to ensure seamless integration of audio elements.
- Adapt traditional sound editing workflows to new media experiences.
- Edit multichannel recordings, including surround formats and Ambisonic audio.
- Organize and manage sound libraries, utilizing metadata workflows.
- Occasionally create rough premixes for projects.
- Explore and implement new techniques and methodologies in immersive audio.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, partners, and team leads.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in post-production sound, specializing in sound effects editing and sound design for surround and immersive audio formats.
- Proficiency in Pro Tools and Soundminer, including metadata workflows and sound library management.
- Extensive experience editing multichannel recordings in various surround formats and Ambisonic.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to adapt to new tools and workflows.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience with non-traditional media formats (VR, interactive, or gaming).
- Experience with Reaper.
- Experience with multichannel recording techniques.
- Basic command-line experience for running applications and scripts.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $90 to $100 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
