Revolutionize how a global retailer uses data to optimize its delivery offerings and maximize sales. As a Freelance Data Scientist, you’ll join a dynamic team of data professionals, collaborating with colleagues in Technology, Product, and Design within the Business Support domain. Your expertise will shape strategic decision-making and performance management, using cutting-edge methodologies in a fast-paced environment.
Imagine having the power to answer critical business questions like: What will the future of retail look like? How can pricing strategies attract new customers and achieve financial goals? What’s the optimal way to allocate budget for operations and development?
As a key member of the Data & Analytics team, you will work alongside Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Stewards, and Data Architects to address these challenges head-on.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and implement machine learning models to optimize delivery offerings and maximize sales/profit.
- Conduct in-depth statistical analysis to understand customer behavior and market trends.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define business problems and develop data-driven solutions.
- Communicate complex data insights to stakeholders in a clear and compelling way.
- Contribute to the development of new data products and tools that support strategic decision-making.
Must-Haves:
- Solid understanding of machine learning, statistical analysis, and probability theory.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or similar data science languages.
- Experience with data manipulation tools (e.g., SQL, pandas) and visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib).
- Strong business acumen and the ability to see the “big picture” behind the data.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tell stories with data.
- An educational background in engineering, computer science, statistics, econometrics, or a related field.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the contracting nature of this role, only candidates with the unrestricted right to work in The Netherlands will be considered.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Broad knowledge of collaborative software engineering practices (Git, Agile, DevOps).
- Broad knowledge of cross-functional digital product development principles and the importance of rapid validated learning cycles to optimize performance long term.
