Software Engineer (Backend)

This is a 5/6 months, hybrid contract, offering 30.00 – 35.00 EUR per hour.

As a Software Engineer within the Membership Foundation team, you’ll be instrumental in designing and developing the architecture for a reimagined membership journey. Collaborating closely with the Engineering Manager, Architect, and Tech Lead, you’ll contribute to proof-of-concept development and MVP discussions, shaping the technical direction of the project. Your expertise will also be essential in onboarding and mentoring team members, ensuring a shared understanding of requirements and implementation details. You will also play a vital role in defining testing and deployment strategies, creating supporting documentation, and driving the project forward.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to explore product ideas and contribute to POC and MVP discussions.
• Work with the EM, Architect, and Tech Lead to design architecture and solutions.
• Onboard and mentor team members, clarifying requirements and implementation details.
• Develop and execute testing and deployment strategies, including supporting documentation.
• Build microservice architecture using Kotlin, Java, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes (GKE), Postgres, Pub Sub, and Terraform.
• Deliver secure, scalable, and resilient services based on DevOps principles.
• Utilize cloud computing platforms (preferably GCP).
• Implement modern observability practices, including distributed tracing, structured logging, and metrics.
• Employ monitoring and alerting tools like Context, Grafana, and Elasticsearch.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Proficiency in a modern Object-Oriented Programming language (Kotlin/Java preferred).
• Experience with GitHub Actions, Kubernetes (GKE), Postgres, Pub Sub, and Terraform.
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles and cloud computing platforms (GCP preferred).
• Familiarity with modern observability practices and tools like Context, Grafana, and Elasticsearch.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A pragmatic approach to problem-solving and a focus on building simple, effective solutions.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Experience with other cloud platforms besides GCP.
