Design Researcher –
This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week onsite in our client’s Toronto office.

As a Design Researcher with Aquent, you’ll partner with a leading financial institution to shape the future of their digital products. You will be embedded within a product, journey, or channel team, working closely with designers, product managers, and developers. Your research will directly influence key product decisions, ensuring every client interaction feels valued and important.

In this dynamic role, you will:

Develop a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors through various research methodologies.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify research opportunities and prioritize activities.

Design and conduct user research studies, including both moderated and unmoderated sessions, covering complex and sensitive topics.

Analyze research data and synthesize findings into actionable insights.

Communicate research implications effectively to design teams and stakeholders, influencing product strategy and design decisions.

Facilitate ideation sessions and collaborative workshops to translate research findings into tangible design solutions.

Contribute to the growth of Design Research as a practice within the organization.
Must-Have Qualifications:

BA/BS degree in Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Information Studies, Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in research.

Technical understanding of design research theory and tools.

Working knowledge of a variety of design research methodologies.

Experience working on cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

MA/MS degree or certification in Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Information Studies, Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field.

Appreciation for the potential of ‘design thinking.’

Experience working within a large organization and within an agile environment.

Experience contributing to the launch of a digital product.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is C$53.75 to C$63.75 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
