This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of advanced hardware systems. You will be involved in the entire lifecycle, from assembly and testing to designing fixtures and suggesting improvements to existing processes. Your expertise will ensure the quality and reliability of next-generation imaging platforms.

What You’ll Do:

Assemble vehicle-mounted hardware systems and prototypes.
Develop and execute test plans for components and systems, meticulously documenting results.
Design test fixtures, collaborating with experienced engineers.
Fabricate and modify simple metal parts using tools like mills, drill presses, and band saws.
Select, operate, and maintain test equipment.
Create and manage simple, durable cable harnesses.
Execute software commands and manage data using Linux.
Handle and clean optical components with precision.
Assemble complex systems from documentation, demonstrating dexterity with hand tools and torque wrenches.
Provide constructive feedback on documentation.
Work with high-power test equipment, adhering to safety protocols.
Create comprehensive documentation, including slide decks with images and diagrams.
Drive vehicles equipped with mounted hardware, ranging in size up to a truck.

Must-Haves:

Experience creating simple, durable cable harnesses.
Working knowledge of Linux (command line execution, data management).
Experience handling and cleaning optical components.
Proven ability to assemble complex systems from documentation with minimal guidance.
Proficiency with basic hand tools, sockets, and torque wrenches.
Experience using a manual mill, drill press, and band saw.
Ability to design simple test fixtures using CAD software.
Basic understanding of tolerancing in opto-mechanical systems.
Experience working with high-power test equipment.
Experience executing tests according to provided plans.
Excellent documentation skills (including slide deck creation).
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive vehicles up to the size of a truck.

Nice-to-Haves:

Previous experience with camera systems.
Ability to interpret CAD drawings and make modifications using machining tools.
Experience with vehicle-mounted sensors.
Experience with measurement systems (e.g., FARO Arm, Optical Scanners, Keyence CMM).
Familiarity with OnShape CAD software.
