Your expertise will be instrumental in driving the creation of cutting-edge footwear, impacting athletes and enthusiasts alike.
Partnered with Aquent, this innovative team is seeking a talented Material Designer to join their ranks. In this exciting role, you’ll be at the forefront of design, creating and curating materials for a variety of footwear projects. Your keen eye for aesthetics and deep understanding of material properties will be essential to bringing innovative and visually stunning footwear to life.
As a Material Designer, you will:
- Design innovative and visually appealing materials, as well as style and curate existing materials for footwear projects.
- Collaborate with project teams to understand design specifications and end-use requirements.
- Develop consumer-focused material solutions informed by trends, material properties, and consumer insights.
- Present material palettes, concepts, and mood boards to stakeholders and leadership.
- Utilize design software and tools to create and refine material concepts.
- Create prototypes and hand samples to test and showcase ideas.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate materials seamlessly into the overall design.
- Consider form, function, and manufacturing processes in material selection.
- Research and integrate sustainable and eco-friendly materials into design considerations.
- Create comprehensive design CADs/tech packs for factory and supplier communication.
- Use makers space equipment to create small samples to illustrate concepts and test aesthetics.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of directly relevant work experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience as noted in the job description).
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
- Passion for trends and knowledge of different material types.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Interest in learning AI design tools.
- Previous footwear design experience (Tennis footwear a plus).
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $48.60 to $54 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
