Music Repertoire & Licensing Coordinator

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Music Repertoire & Licensing Coordinator to join our client’s DJ Mix team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the music industry, with a focus on licensing, rights holders, and DJ culture/dance music. This role requires a unique blend of music business acumen, technical proficiency, and a passion for dance and electronic music. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the accurate identification and maintenance of music content within our client’s service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Acquisition and Resolution:

• Identify and resolve issues for content in DJ mixes, which may require outreach to rights holders, labels, and music distributors on behalf of the client.
• Leverage your network and deep industry knowledge of music labels, distributors, rights holders, and dance music culture across several decades to help facilitate the client’s goals for DJ mix content.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of important tracks and catalogs from labels, artists, and distributors.
• Perform outreach (via emai) to To rights holders to discuss digital distribution options on behalf of client.
• Provide timely notifications to the client regarding incoming or delivered content and assist in executing updates.
• Regularly check for and accurately update pre-release information, following established procedures.
• Communicate and collaborate with DJ mix production team on mix maintenance and rights clearance issues.

Mix Updates and Maintenance:

• Become proficient in our client’s process to update DJ mixes content.
• Maintain clean logs of rights changes and DJ mix content clearances.
• Monitor high priority dance music content for client’s catalog.

Reporting:

• Experience with client reporting and technology (Quip, Box, Slack, Pages, Numbers, etc.)
• Create and maintain weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports on content updates and rights changes.
• Collate data, prepare reports, and participate in regular meetings.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• Deep repertoire knowledge of dance and electronic music, including sub-genres and related genres.
• Strong working relationships with independent record labels, producers, DJs, and artists.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of combined experience as a DJ/producer, music business professional (at a record label, artist services/management company, or distribution company), and/or music tech.
• Understanding of music rights and experience in clearing music rights.
• Proficiency in using data to prioritize tasks.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not essential.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $40 to $45/hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
