Join our dynamic team as a Legal Assistant in our boutique downtown Los Angeles business litigation firm. This entry-level role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in the legal field. Prior law firm experience is preferred but not required.  We will train the right candidate.  This role is ideal for a recent college graduate interested in applying to law school.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Court Filings and Service:

    • Prepare, file, and e-file pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents with various courts (state and federal).

    • Serve opposing counsel and parties with legal documents in accordance with court rules and procedures.

    • Maintain accurate records of filings and service, ensuring compliance with deadlines.

  • Calendar and Deadline Management:

    • Manage attorney calendars, scheduling hearings, depositions, and other case-related events.

    • Monitor critical deadlines for pleadings, discovery, motions, and other pre-trial matters.

    • Proactively alert attorneys of upcoming deadlines and assist in prioritizing tasks.

  • Case Management and Organization:

    • Maintain and organize comprehensive case files, both physical and electronic.

    • Manage client communication logs, ensuring all correspondence and interactions are documented.

    • Assist with the preparation of trial notebooks, exhibits, and other litigation materials.

  • Database Management:

    • Input and update client information and case details in the firm’s database.

    • Generate reports and track case progress using database functionalities.

    • Ensure data integrity and confidentiality.

  • Administrative Support:

    • Provide general administrative support to attorneys, such as answering phones, managing mail, and scheduling meetings.

    • Assist with travel arrangements, billing, and other administrative tasks as needed.

Skills and Experience Desired:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree

  • Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and clients.

  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.

  • Legal Experience: Prior experience as a legal assistant or intern in a law firm setting.

  • Language Skills: Proficiency in Korean language is helpful but not required
