About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled legal professional to join a dedicated legal services team, focusing on essential pre-trial work. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of legal operations, particularly in general litigation, commercial litigation, and mass tort cases. You will be instrumental in building robust legal foundations, ensuring comprehensive case preparation, and contributing to strategic decision-making without the need for court appearances or deposition coverage. Your analytical skills and legal drafting capabilities will be at the forefront, directly impacting the success of ongoing litigation matters.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare draft answers to legal complaints.
• Review case files post-note of issue for completeness and accuracy.
• Draft dispositive and other pre-trial motions, including motions for summary judgment.
• Summarize depositions and medical records for comprehensive case analysis.
• Write requests for authority, ensuring proper legal justification.
• Conduct research on verdicts and specific legal issues to inform strategy.
• Prepare detailed legal memos on various topics.
• Assist with thorough case evaluations.
• Collaborate closely on developing effective trial strategies.
• Proactively identify legal issues and potential case risks.
• Provide essential support for litigation matters involving tort and liability claims.

What You’ll Bring

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5-8 years of legal experience.
• Strong defense background in litigation.
• Demonstrated ability to draft motions, including motions for summary judgment.
• Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing medical records.
• Experience within insurance defense firms or carrier legal departments.
• A clear understanding of carrier reporting requirements.
• Proven ability to identify litigation risks and issues early in the process.
• Experience assisting with case evaluations.
• Capability to collaborate effectively on trial strategy.
• Adept at identifying legal issues and potential case risks.
• Experience supporting litigation matters involving tort and liability claims.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Defense-side litigation experience.
• Experience with tort and liability litigation.
