What You’ll Do

  • Understand and apply user interface patterns and behaviors to enhance user comprehension and task performance.
  • Utilize visualizations and interactions to facilitate analytic thinking, especially with large data sets.
  • Lead design critiques, evaluate interactions for inclusivity, and provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitate ideation sessions and collaborative design activities.
  • Serve as the interaction design subject-matter expert for the design team.
  • Apply a comprehensive understanding of interaction design theory, visual design theory, research data, and best practices to inform design decisions.
  • Create complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate ideas.
  • Develop complex prototypes that provide precise delivery specifications for development teams.
  • Present interaction design work and rationale to senior stakeholders.
  • Facilitate usability testing sessions.
  • Initiate and participate in user research activities.
  • Research interaction design strategies within the financial services sector and conduct competitive audits.
  • Perform pattern, micro-interaction, and component design audits as needed.

What You’ll Bring

Must-have Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A portfolio showcasing application design samples.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms.
  • Experience in an applied research setting, including integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate design strategy, rationale, and logic, describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions.
  • Demonstrated expertise with design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Mural, and UserTesting.com.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, and when and how to apply them during each product phase.
  • An appreciation for the potential of ‘design thinking’.
  • Experience working within a large organization and within an agile environment.
