We are seeking an exceptional and experienced design leader to drive user experience for critical initiatives. In this pivotal role, you will lead the charge in defining product design flows, interactions, and content strategies, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to bring innovative ideas to life. Your work will directly influence the user journey across multiple platforms, ensuring delightful and accessible experiences for a vast global audience. You will be instrumental in identifying opportunities to integrate cutting-edge thinking into product designs, while also envisioning and crafting novel experiences for upcoming features. This position demands a critical, inventive thinker with strong design capabilities, a passion for leveraging data, and the ability to articulate ideas persuasively.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead UX design for projects spanning various platforms (including voice and visual interfaces) that impact numerous aspects of the digital content experience.
• Drive the complete experience design process, from discovery and research to concept development, wireframes, and high-fidelity mocks, with a strong emphasis on understanding customer mindsets, flows, and journeys.
• Translate high-level requirements into actionable design directions by asking incisive questions and gathering all relevant information.
• Rapidly iterate through multiple design explorations to achieve simple yet robust solutions, effectively addressing complex requirements.
• Validate designs through rigorous research and testing methodologies.
• Design for current user experiences while simultaneously envisioning and creating new experiences for future features and functionalities.
• Stay abreast of emerging UX and digital behavior trends, design innovations, and broader technological shifts, identifying opportunities to integrate best practices into product designs.
• Collaborate effectively and present design work to a diverse range of stakeholders, including executives, engineers, product managers, business leaders, researchers, and other design professionals.
• Focus on building out an interactive content experience across mobile platforms, considering aspects like responsive design, accessibility, and various user access levels.
• Partner with product management to assemble comprehensive flows (both logic and customer experience) that capture numerous use cases and scenarios.
• Collaborate with team members to scale features to other platforms, such as web and TV.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 6 years of design experience.
• An available online portfolio showcasing your work.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in design (UX, product), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), behavioral economics, cognitive psychology, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience in UX design and research for products on web, mobile, voice, or emerging platforms.
• Experience working in direct collaboration with product managers, front-end and back-end engineers, and business or editorial stakeholders.
• A strong online portfolio demonstrating results in digital (web and app, if not also emerging platform and voice) work.
• Experience designing with Pattern Libraries and utilizing a variety of research and testing methodologies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, including the ability to present design concepts clearly and persuasively to colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
• Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate a bias for action in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.
• Relentless desire for innovation, balanced with business needs and customer expectations.
• Proficiency in UX design and prototyping tools.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience as a lead product designer for medium to large projects that involve multidisciplinary challenges and span multiple platforms and departments.
• Expertise in complex service design challenges.
• Experienced in integrating qualitative and quantitative data into design work and iterations.
• Experience working with machine learning (ML) or artificial intelligence (AI) systems.
• Proven ability to present a strategic rationale for design decisions to executive-level stakeholders.
• Experience demonstrating ownership of projects and communicating timelines, executing independently.
