Are you ready to be a pivotal force in maintaining the backbone of a dynamic financial enterprise? We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive individual to join a mission-critical operations team, where your expertise will ensure the seamless functioning of server systems and infrastructure. In this role, you won’t just monitor; you’ll be the first line of defense, triaging incidents, troubleshooting complex issues, and collaborating with engineering teams to keep vital production environments running reliably and efficiently. Your impact will be immediate and significant, directly contributing to the continuous availability of services that clients depend on every single day.
**What You’ll Do**
* Serve as the primary point of contact for technology teams and vendors, advocating for business-facing teams.
* Proactively monitor enterprise alerts and situations, ensuring timely acknowledgment and adherence to service level agreements.
* Evaluate and triage technical issues, escalating to senior technicians, engineers, or vendors as necessary.
* Support the recovery and maintenance of distributed infrastructure, meticulously documenting actions and collaborating with teammates.
* Provide essential support for routine production problems escalated to the command center.
* Execute system changes within established guidelines and under supervision.
* Track incident statuses and provide regular updates to stakeholders, maintaining accurate records in internal ticketing systems.
* Cultivate strong working relationships with internal and external peers to ensure task completion and foster a collaborative environment.
* Continuously enhance technical knowledge through training sessions and professional networking.
* Prioritize and complete work assignments based on department needs and system criticality.
* Identify and implement opportunities for continuous service delivery improvement and IT service readiness.
* Contribute to improvement initiatives that align with strategic business goals.
* Collaborate professionally with technology partners to ensure high-quality service delivery.
* Lead and act as a subject matter expert for server operators, providing operational oversight and guidance.
* Execute operational and escalation instructions from leadership.
* Make tactical decisions aligned with strategic goals and objectives.
* Coordinate training, onboarding, and continuous development for team members.
**Must-Have Qualifications:**
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related information technology discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
* 5-7 years of experience in a large, 24×7 high-availability data center environment supporting 1000+ servers.
* Specialized knowledge and understanding of server operating systems, typically gained through formal technical training.
* Experience with load balancers, including adding/removing servers and/or service ports.
* A solid understanding of UNIX and Windows Server-based operating systems, including paging and swapping, inter-process communication, device drivers, and file system concepts.
* Familiarity with fundamental networking and distributed computing concepts, including configuring NFS and NIS, using basic network commands for troubleshooting/DNS validation, and basic routing concepts.
* Foundational skills in writing scripts in administrative scripting languages.
* Familiarity with service management tools.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on efficient service restoration.
* Exceptional attention to detail when performing technically complex tasks.
* Experience in IT management, including process development and improvement.
* Proven experience implementing key IT standardized processes and methodologies (e.g., ITIL, Event Management, Incident, Problem, and Knowledge Management).
* A forward-thinking mindset and the ability to influence teams through continuous operational and technology changes.
* A strong desire for continuous learning through training courses and on-the-job mentorship.
* A proactive attitude in leading process development and service improvement initiatives.
**Nice-to-Have Qualifications:**
* Active certifications such as CompTIA, Server+, and/or Security+.
