- This is a hybrid role, working 4 days per week onsite in our client’s Toronto office and 1 day remotely
**What You’ll Do**
* Instinctively weave iconography, typography, color, space, and texture to simplify and enhance customer navigation within products and services.
* Collaborate within agile team environments and iterative processes, working with interdisciplinary team members and stakeholders.
* Analyze, design, and convey mobile and responsive design visions, from idea generation to implementation.
**Key Responsibilities**
* **Visual Design Strategy:**
* Leverage understanding of visual-spatial displays to improve user comprehension and task performance.
* Create visual components with a broader context in mind, ensuring efficiency and consistency across multiple situations.
* Utilize dynamic visualizations to support analytical thinking, especially with large data sets.
* Facilitate ideation sessions and collaborative work activities to drive innovative solutions.
* Present visual design work effectively to senior stakeholders.
* **Visual Design Creation:**
* Apply a comprehensive understanding of visual design theory, research data, and best practices to inform design decisions.
* Design high-complexity visual artifacts for digital media (web or native app) to exchange information, elicit emotion, and facilitate interaction.
* Create complex low-fidelity sketches, high-fidelity mock-ups, and prototypes to communicate intent and delivery specifications for development.
* Facilitate design critiques, evaluate visual designs for inclusivity, and provide expert advice and guidance to cross-functional teams.
* Contribute practical direction to the larger design team on visual communication standards, tools, channels, and processes.
* **Research and Testing:**
* Facilitate usability testing to gather insights and validate design decisions.
* Participate in or initiate research activities to deepen understanding of user needs and behaviors.
* Research visual design and communication strategies within the financial services sector and conduct competitive audits relevant to specific design or business goals.
* Perform visual design audits where appropriate to ensure quality and consistency.

**Must-Have Qualifications**
* BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* A compelling portfolio that includes web and/or mobile design samples.
* Solid knowledge of design tools (e.g., Figma, Mural, UserTesting.com) and core design principles (e.g., typography, grid systems, visual hierarchy, color, white space).
* Understanding of responsive design principles and practices.
* Experience working within an agile process.
**Nice-to-Have Qualifications**
* Experience designing outstanding digital products and experiences.
* Proven ability to communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale, all within a user-centered design process.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
* Additional knowledge and/or experience in the agile process.
