Overview

Our client, a large, well-known brand, is partnering with Aquent to hire a Marketing Process Consultant to help bring structure and clarity to how their marketing work gets done.

Today, many marketing processes, including campaign planning, promotional execution, and marketing production, are not formally documented. Teams often work from institutional knowledge rather than defined workflows, making it difficult to execute campaigns consistently and efficiently.

This contract role will focus on understanding how marketing currently operates, documenting those workflows, and redesigning processes where improvements are needed.

This is a hands-on operational role where you will spend time working closely with marketing teams to understand how work gets done day-to-day and translate that into clear documentation and improved processes.

The goal is simple: bring structure, clarity, and repeatable workflows to the marketing organization so teams can execute campaigns more efficiently and accurately.

What You’ll Do

Understand Current Marketing Workflows

Meet with marketing stakeholders across the organization to understand how campaigns and promotional marketing are currently planned, produced, and executed.

Document how key outputs are created, including:

  • Marketing campaigns
  • Promotional flyers
  • Email marketing
  • Advertising materials
  • Cross-channel promotions

Document Current-State Processes

Create clear documentation that maps how marketing work currently flows, including:

  • Steps involved in campaign execution
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Dependencies between teams
  • Decision points and approvals

Identify Gaps and Operational Challenges

Identify where processes are unclear, inefficient, or creating errors—particularly in promotional execution.

Redesign and Improve Marketing Workflows

Where appropriate, redesign processes to help the marketing organization operate more efficiently and consistently.

This may include:

  • Clarifying ownership and responsibilities
  • Improving campaign planning workflows
  • Reducing bottlenecks in promotional execution
  • Creating repeatable campaign documentation

Build Practical Documentation

Develop documentation that marketing teams can actually use day-to-day, including:

  • Process documentation
  • Workflow diagrams
  • Playbooks for campaign execution

What You Bring

We are looking for someone who naturally thinks in systems and processes and enjoys bringing order and clarity to complex operational environments.

Ideal candidates will have experience:

  • 5+ years of marketing experience, including work within large, B2C organizations
  • Examples of previous experience mapping and documenting business processes
  • Improving operational workflows
  • Working closely with marketing teams
  • Facilitating stakeholder interviews to understand current operations
  • Translating informal workflows into clear documentation

Preferred Backgrounds

Candidates may come from backgrounds such as:

  • Marketing operations
  • Agency operations
  • Program or project management in marketing organizations
  • Business process consulting

Work Style

This role is most effective when working closely with teams in person. The consultant will spend time sitting with marketing stakeholders, observing workflows, and documenting how work happens in real time.

What Success Looks Like

By the end of this engagement:

  • Core marketing processes are clearly documented
  • Teams have defined workflows for key marketing outputs
  • Campaign execution is more structured and less chaotic
  • Marketing teams have a shared understanding of how work gets done

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $40 to $50/hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
