Join a pioneering organization at the forefront of AI innovation, dedicated to transforming the experience and quality of life for millions of consumers. This forward-thinking enterprise is committed to leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies, collaborating with leading experts to build robust, reusable AI solutions that prioritize accountability, effective risk management, and precise measurement.  Are you ready to architect the future of intelligent systems? We are seeking an exceptional individual to drive the development of advanced agentic systems, capable of autonomously managing and decomposing complex goals. This is an incredible opportunity to be a foundational expert in agent design, planning, and control, shaping how AI agents set, adapt, and execute goals in dynamic, real-world environments. Your contributions will be pivotal in establishing the scientific and engineering foundations for reliable, interpretable, and robust AI agents tackling long-horizon tasks, directly impacting consumer well-being and operational excellence.  You will be at the forefront of AI innovation, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to integrate groundbreaking agentic solutions into real-world applications. This role offers significant opportunities to lead technical direction, pioneer new methodologies, and directly contribute to the organization’s mission of leveraging AI for transformative impact on consumer experience and care quality.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Architect goal setting and goal decomposition mechanisms for autonomous agents operating in uncertain or open-ended environments.
* Design and implement dynamic planning systems, including hierarchical planning, curriculum learning, and self-refinement loops.
* Collaborate on innovative memory, tool-use, and feedback-loop designs to enable sophisticated, multi-step, self-directed agent behavior.
* Develop comprehensive evaluation frameworks to ensure agent alignment with human intent, consistency, and measurable progress against long-horizon objectives.
* Prototype and deploy agents that seamlessly interface with APIs, various enterprise systems, search engines, databases, or real-world actuators, ensuring safe and efficient goal pursuit.
* Explore and implement advanced mechanisms to detect and mitigate goal misalignment, looping behavior, or undesirable emergent strategies.
* Partner across diverse teams to integrate goal alignment with critical safety, ethical alignment, and operational reliability mechanisms.

 **Education & Experience:**
* Master’s Degree in a relevant technical field.
* Minimum of 4 years of experience in research/ML engineering or an applied research scientist role, with a strong focus on developing production-ready AI solutions.
* At least 2 years of experience leading the development of AI/ML systems.

**Technical Expertise:**
* Proficiency in SQL, Python, and advanced data analysis/data mining tools.
* Demonstrated experience with machine learning frameworks such as Pytorch, Jax, LangChain, LangGraph, or AutoGen.
* Proven experience with high-performance, large-scale ML systems.
* Expertise in language modeling with transformers.
* Experience with symbolic planning, causal reasoning, and model-based reinforcement learning (RL).
* Proficiency in large-scale ETL processes.

**Nice-to-Have Qualifications:**

* Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related field.
* Demonstrated experience shipping autonomous or semi-autonomous agents in production environments or complex simulations.
* Experience with Large Language Model (LLM)-based agents, including scratchpad/self-reflection mechanisms or hierarchical task decomposition.
* Understanding of autonomy risk mitigation strategies, suchs as off-switch protocols or bounded rationality.
