This is a hybrid position (3 days/week) in Redmond, WA. It will start as a 4 month engagement with the possibility to extend up to 18 months.

The purpose of this team is to validate SQL performance on new hardware and new releases, identify regressions, ensure performance stability, and work closely with developers to resolve issues. This role will contribute to ongoing SQL performance testing, regression detection, and performance diagnostics — long‑running initiatives that have been in place “for years and years.” We are looking for someone software development engineer with knowledge in C/C#/PowerShell, good problem solving, good communication skills and ability to work as a team. 

What You’ll Do

The role will consist of running performance tests, analyzing performance results, generating reports, addressing regressions, and performing scripting (PowerShell or C/C#). The candidate will also participate in daily or twice‑daily scrum calls to provide updates, receive assignments, and surface blockers. Work with Lead SQL Performance engineers, follow their instructions, sync daily with progress and next steps. The purpose of this team is to validate SQL performance on new hardware and new releases, identify regressions, ensure performance stability, and work closely with developers to resolve issues.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • 2 years of experience in C, C#, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with SQL performance testing.
  • ​Foundational computer science knowledge
  • Experience with broad technology delivery, including custom development utilizing various programming languages.
  • Ability to apply fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures to technical assignments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • MBA or other related advanced degree.
