We’re looking for an experienced Art Director to lead the visual direction of marketing campaigns for our large client, a well-known ecommerce lifestyle brand.

In this contract role, you won’t just be polishing designs handed to you. You’ll be shaping the big visual idea behind each campaign and guiding it all the way from concept to final launch across every channel: website, email, social, digital ads, and print.

You’ll work closely with brand, ecommerce, social, print, and production partners to make sure every piece of creative feels cohesive, on-brand, and built to perform in a digital-first retail environment.

If you love building campaign concepts, directing photo and video shoots, and collaborating with writers and designers to bring ideas to life, this role was made for you.

What you’ll actually do

  • Turn creative briefs into clear visual concepts and campaign directions
  • Build and present mood boards and visual decks to internal stakeholders
  • Lead the art direction for photo and video shoots, both in studio and on location
  • Guide photographers, stylists, talent, and crew to capture the right look and feel
  • Review and direct post-production, retouching, and final layouts
  • Adapt campaign creative across all channels (site, social, email, print, etc.)
  • Partner with copywriters and designers to create fully integrated campaigns
  • Ensure all work follows brand standards while still pushing the creative forward
  • Stay on top of visual and cultural trends in fashion, lifestyle, and digital media

You might be a great fit if you…

  • Have led full campaigns for a fashion, retail, or lifestyle brand
  • Have real on-set experience directing photo or video shoots
  • Enjoy presenting ideas and explaining the thinking behind your work
  • Know how to create imagery that not only looks beautiful but also helps sell product
  • Can take a rough idea and drive it through to polished final assets
  • Are comfortable juggling multiple projects and deadlines at once

This role may not be for you if you…

  • Prefer to focus only on hands-on design execution
  • Haven’t directed shoots or worked closely with production teams
  • Have only worked on one channel (for example, just social or just print)
  • Don’t enjoy collaboration and feedback from many stakeholders

Tools and technology you’ll use

  • Adobe Photoshop (image editing and retouching)
  • Adobe Illustrator (graphics and scalable assets)
  • Adobe InDesign (layouts for digital and print)
  • Adobe Acrobat (proofing and reviews)
  • Mac-based workflow
  • Experience with motion or simple animation is a plus, but not required.

What you bring

  • 6+ years in art direction, graphic design, or creative marketing
  • Excellent portfolio that includes experience in an integrated agency or in-house brand working across channels
  • Strong understanding of layout, typography, color, and composition
  • Ability to pitch and sell your ideas clearly and confidently
  • Organized, detail-oriented approach to fast-moving projects
  • Curiosity about trends in retail, fashion, home, beauty, and lifestyle

What you get from this role

  • Ownership of high-visibility, end-to-end campaigns
  • Hands-on creative leadership, not just oversight
  • Regular shoot direction and production experience
  • A collaborative team of strategists, writers, designers, and producers
  • The chance to influence how a major ecommerce brand shows up visually
  • Variety: digital, social, ecommerce, print, photo, and video work
  • Flexibility of remote work with the creative energy of on-set shoot days

Logistics

  • Note: This role is primarily remote, with travel/on-site presence for productions and shoots as needed

If your portfolio shows strong campaign thinking, beautiful and effective visual storytelling, and real on-set art direction experience, we’d love to see it.
