We are seeking a versatile and narrative-driven Freelance Video Editor to join our creative roster. The ideal candidate is a “full-stack” editor who can move seamlessly from the initial rough cut to the final high-polish finish. You should be equally comfortable searching for the perfect stock shot as you are weaving together a complex, multi-layered brand story.

We are looking for someone who doesn’t just “push buttons” but acts as a creative partner, helping us shape narratives from discovery through delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Editorial: Lead the offline process by assembling rough cuts for internal and client review, managing revisions efficiently through to final approval.
  • Finishing & Mastering: Provide mid-to-senior level online editorial services, including professional color grading for live-action footage and final audio mixing.
  • Creative Collaboration: Partner closely with Creative Directors and Producers to interpret approved briefs, offering insight into storyline development and narrative pacing.
  • Storytelling Across Scales: Expertly craft stories for various formats, ranging from high-impact :06 social snacks to 2:00+ long-form brand films.
  • Media Integration: Seamlessly blend high-end production footage with found footage (stock), ensuring the final product feels like a cohesive, intentional piece of storytelling.
  • Asset Curation: Take ownership of stock library searches to find specific, high-quality shots that elevate the visual narrative.
  • Format Versatility: Flex between different project types, including scripted narratives, sit-down interviews, corporate case studies, and high-energy sizzle reels.

Technical Requirements & Qualifications

  • Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro (and/or DaVinci Resolve for finishing).
  • Post-Production Finishing: Proven experience in color correction/grading and audio sweetening/mixing for broadcast or digital delivery.
  • Narrative Instinct: A strong portfolio demonstrating the ability to find “the story” within raw footage and interviews.
  • Portfolio Variety: Evidence of experience in both social-first content and long-form storytelling.
  • Workflow Management: Highly organized with file management, versioning, and meeting tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.

Nice-to-Have Capabilities

  • Motion Graphics: Ability to create or update 2D/3D graphics and typography in After Effects to enhance the visual storytelling.
  • Sound Design: Advanced experience in soundscape creation, Foley, and rhythmic editing to drive the emotional impact of a piece.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $65 to $75. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
