Senior Clinical Coding Auditor & Trainer – Primarily remote with 10% travel expectation (twice a year to New York City office)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate professional to take on a pivotal role in developing, conducting, administering, and analyzing clinical coding training and auditing programs. In this position, you will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our inpatient coding processes and fostering continuous learning within our teams. Your work will directly contribute to the operational excellence and compliance of our healthcare services, ensuring that our members receive the best possible care. 

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain complex audit processes and tools specifically for inpatient coding.
  • Design and deliver engaging clinical education courses for both new and existing employees.
  • Conduct thorough audits of established guidelines for medical necessity.
  • Analyze training needs, then identify, select, or develop appropriate training programs, including aids and materials.
  • Audit staff performance against established processes, collaborating with them to identify and resolve errors, and presenting findings and recommendations to management.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Research, analyze, and recommend internal and external training programs to enhance our capabilities.
  • Maintain meticulous records of training activities and employee progress.
  • Assist in the revision of Policy and Procedure documents and the development of new work processes for inpatient coding.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, a related clinical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Current state nursing license.
  • Valid and current CPC, CIC, or CCS Certification demonstrating inpatient coding expertise.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in nursing, training, or auditing within a managed care healthcare setting, with a strong focus on inpatient coding auditing.
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
  • Strong written English communication skills, enabling clear and effective documentation and training.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in a lead or supervisory role.

Compensation

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $68,700.00 – $123,700.00 per year. This role is also eligible for an 8% performance bonus.
