What You’ll Do: 

As a key member of the legal team, you will play a crucial role in supporting all facets of legal matters, operating with a high degree of independence under minimal attorney supervision. Your work will span litigation support, transactional activities, and regulatory compliance, ensuring the organization adheres to the highest legal standards. You will be at the forefront of legal research and analysis, process development, and mentorship, making a significant impact on the team’s capabilities and overall success.

  • Conduct complex legal research and analysis, monitoring and maintaining current knowledge of federal and state legislation, regulations, and industry guidelines. 
  • Draft monthly summaries of legal updates for department staff and business clients, ensuring the organization remains informed and compliant. 
  • Prepare, review, proofread, compile, and summarize a variety of legal correspondence and pleadings, including those related to regulatory filings and ongoing case administration.
  • Perform in-depth factual investigations and research, analyzing documents, facts, and regulations to prepare comprehensive reports, correspondence, and memos for attorney review.
  • Coordinate and facilitate departmental trainings, sharing your expertise and contributing to the professional development of the team.
  • Proactively anticipate, propose, and develop new processes, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance legal operations.
  • Organize, maintain, and update departmental files using approved legal management platforms, developing efficient processes for records management.
  • Provide essential administrative assistance, including drafting letters, scheduling meetings, managing legal files, and participating in various projects.
  • Develop comprehensive plans for legal projects, encompassing fact investigation, coordinating document collections, organizing records, and preparing legal documents for review and use.
  • Apply subject matter expertise to evaluate legal operations, identify areas for technical improvement, and mentor junior staff and interns.
  • Ensure the accuracy and compliance of all deliverables with organizational policies and relevant legislation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Paralegal certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience within a healthcare organization or health plan, handling complex assignments related to regulatory, public law, or healthcare issues, with independent litigation support for civil litigation, employment, regulatory investigations, healthcare, and/or provider disputes. OR
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with public agency regulatory requirements (e.g., government transparency and ethics regulations, managed care regulatory frameworks, healthcare privacy regulations, government healthcare program regulations) and experience with healthcare organizations (e.g., physician groups, hospitals, health plans).
  • Demonstrated experience in a highly regulated industry.
  • Proficiency in legal technology and various legal research platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and review.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Must be highly proficient in the use of computers (desktop/laptop) and supporting operating software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
  • Outstanding communication and writing skills.
  • Proactive, responsive, accountable, and a self-starter.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, manage time effectively, and meet competing deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing demands.
  • Experience in family law or personal injury law is not relevant for this role.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Advanced paralegal certification.
  • Minimum of 7 years of paralegal experience focused on vendor, provider contracts, and/or administrative law.
  • Experience in matter and project management.
  • Corporate litigation skills, particularly within a healthcare organization or a litigation firm specializing in healthcare.
  • Proficiency in current legal technologies, teleconferencing, secure file transfer, and other related research software, platforms, and applications.
