In this pivotal role, you will champion the procurement and supply chain functions, guaranteeing that critical materials are always available, quality standards are upheld, and the organization’s growth initiatives are fully supported. Your leadership will not only optimize operational efficiency but also empower laboratory professionals to deliver the highest level of care, making a tangible difference in the lives of patients every single day. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Lead and direct the daily operations of purchasing and supplies departments, overseeing all phases of procurement and inventory control.  
  • Develop and implement strategies for order processing, inventory management, and departmental budget oversight. 
  • Ensure strict adherence to the organization’s quality and purchasing policies.  
  • Negotiate and manage service contracts with vendors, collaborating with the legal department to prevent expirations and ensure complete documentation.  
  • Provide essential supply-related support to both internal and external customers to achieve financial objectives.  
  • Generate comprehensive reports and analyze data to forecast procurement needs and support new project growth.  
  • Maintain meticulous procurement files and safety data records.  
  • Proactively resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims.  
  • Cultivate and manage strong vendor relationships, fostering effective and collaborative partnerships, and maintain a robust vendor rating system.  
  • Administer, review, and approve online purchase requisitions. 
  • Prepare and deliver impactful presentations on key performance metrics, program updates, and vendor management.  
  • Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills and decisive decision-making. 
  • Negotiate contracts for materials, services, and equipment based on cost objectives and internal customer input, including managing RFQ/RFP processes.  
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers, approve specifications, and determine product availability to meet organizational needs.  
  • Prioritize assignments and effectively delegate responsibilities to your team.  
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports, fostering a dynamic and flexible work environment through continuous feedback and professional development.  
  • Collaborate effectively across multi-functional internal teams and with critical external vendors.  
  • Oversee the disposal of surplus materials, supplies, and equipment in accordance with organizational policies.  
  • Conduct routine business evaluations, examining purchasing and inventory levels, developing insightful reports, and mitigating potential write-offs.  
  • Proactively address business continuity issues and inventory/supplier concerns, keeping senior leadership informed.  
  • Contribute significantly to supplier negotiations, benchmarking, and price analysis.  
  • Ensure compliance with basic wage and hour laws, federal, state, and local regulations, and other employment legislation. 
  • Champion the organization’s culture and values in all activities. 

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in purchasing or contracting.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area. 
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • In-depth experience with purchasing practices and MRP (Material Requirements Planning) functions. 
  • Demonstrated experience with developing and managing departmental budgets. 
  • Ability to develop written standard operating procedures (SOPs). 
  • Ability to work effectively across multi-functional teams within the organization and with external vendors. 
  • Knowledge of basic wage and hour laws, federal, state, and local laws, and regulations affecting employment. 

Nice-to-Have Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL. 
  • Familiarity with Crystal reporting. 
  • Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management System). 
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory or healthcare setting, particularly with a focus on kidney care.
