We are looking for a Data Scientist for a 7-month hybrid engagement in Beaverton, OR, You won’t just analyze numbers; you’ll build innovative solutions that provide a comprehensive understanding of complex market dynamics, empowering leaders to optimize strategies and unlock new growth opportunities. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing cutting-edge data products that drive measurable impact for a leading brand in its industry.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the charge in designing, developing, and programming advanced methods and systems to consolidate and analyze diverse “big data” sources. You will be at the heart of generating actionable insights and solutions, building data products that directly enhance client services and product offerings. You’ll collaborate closely with product and service teams, identifying key questions and issues for data analysis and experimentation, and translating complex findings into clear, business-relevant language for stakeholders. This is your chance to independently drive end-to-end analysis, influencing product strategy, data architecture, and reporting decisions, and leaving a lasting mark on how a major industry player understands its marketplace.

Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and program advanced methods and systems to consolidate and analyze structured and unstructured “big data” sources.
* Build innovative data products for comprehensive analysis, generating actionable insights and solutions.
* Collaborate with product and service teams to identify critical questions and issues for data analysis and experimentation.
* Develop and code software programs, algorithms, and automated processes to cleanse, integrate, and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources.
* Identify meaningful insights from vast data and metadata sources, interpreting and communicating findings to product, service, and business managers.
* Lead the accomplishment of key goals across consumer and commercial analytics functions, working with stakeholders to develop sustainable data solutions and provide recommendations.
* Document and communicate systems and analytics changes, translating complex functionality into business-relevant language.
* Validate key performance indicators and build queries to quantitatively measure business performance.
* Communicate with cross-functional teams to understand the business causes of data anomalies and outliers.
* Develop data governance standards from data ingestion to product dictionaries and documentation.
* Create SQL queries and data visualizations to fulfill ad-hoc analysis requests and ongoing reporting needs.
* Organize and transform information into comprehensible structures, using data to predict trends and perform statistical analysis.
* Utilize data mining techniques to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns.
* Monitor data quality, identify, and remove corrupt data to maintain data integrity.
* Evaluate and leverage new technologies, tools, and frameworks for high-volume data processing.
* Improve existing processes through automation and efficient workflows, building and delivering scalable data and analytics solutions.
* Work independently, taking initiative to identify, explore, and solve complex problems.
* Design and build innovative data and analytics solutions to support critical business decisions.
* Support standard methodologies in reporting and analysis, including data integrity, unit testing, data quality control, system integration testing, modeling, validation, and documentation.

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience, including comprehensive experience as a business/process leader or industry expert. (Alternatively: PhD + 8 yrs; Masters + 9 yrs; Associates degree + 11 yrs; High School + 12 yrs).
* Expert-level SQL skills (6+ years), including ad-hoc querying.
* Proficiency in Python (6+ years), including standard libraries.
* Experience with Apache Spark (2-4 years).
* Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
* Experience with Databricks.
* Strong stakeholder communication skills (2-4 years).

Nice-to-Have

* Experience with Spark SQL (2-4 years).
* Experience with Pyspark (2-4 years).
* Demonstrated data storytelling abilities (2-4 years).
* Experience in product storytelling (2-4 years).
