Join a leading tech company as a Software Test Engineer, focusing on platform testing for game development. You will be an integral part of the Development Support team, collaborating with developers to ensure a seamless gaming experience across various platforms. Your expertise in platform compatibility, performance testing, and input device verification will be essential to delivering high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide. Partnering with Aquent, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, contributing your skills to a dynamic and collaborative environment.
As a key member of the Development Support team, you will work closely with developers to conduct early testing, create comprehensive documentation (test cases, test briefs, etc.), and tackle challenges that could impact the core QA team. You’ll provide valuable feedback to QA Leads on the health of their area/features and to the development team on the testing progress. You’ll also serve as the primary contact for the QA team, addressing design questions and coordinating testing efforts.
What You’ll Do:
- Conduct thorough platform testing, ensuring compatibility across various hardware and software configurations.
- Verify game functionality on different console versions and PC hardware, considering both high-end and low-end systems.
- Ensure compliance with operating system and firmware requirements, including OS updates and security patches.
- Perform rigorous performance testing, analyzing frame rates, resolution, input latency, and loading times.
- Test various input devices, including controllers, keyboards, mice, and adaptive controllers.
- Validate online and network features, including cross-platform multiplayer, matchmaking, and cloud saves.
- Conduct storage and installation testing, verifying installation, uninstallation, updates, and storage management.
- Ensure UI and display compatibility across different screen sizes, resolutions, aspect ratios, and HDR support.
- Test save data and progression functionality, including cross-save and cloud synchronization.
- Write clear and concise testing instructions and briefs.
- Estimate testing efforts accurately.
- Continuously learn new technologies and refine testing skills.
- Maintain meticulous documentation and organization.
- Communicate effectively with QA and Production teams.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Experience in multiple development cycles, with a focus on platform testing.
- Strong understanding of hardware compatibility, operating system compliance, performance testing, input device testing, online/network features testing, storage/installation testing, UI/display compatibility, and save data/progression testing.
- Experience writing testing instructions and briefs.
- Experience estimating testing efforts.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and develop/refine skills.
- Strong documentation and organization skills.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort interfacing with QA and Production teams.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience with Unreal Engine.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Perforce, and SharePoint.
- Adaptable teaching skills.
- Familiarity with the client’s previous game titles (removed for confidentiality).
