We’re looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our team. This position will be accountable for high-level and system-level design and architecture and will be expected to perform impact analysis and redesign. This role is for a hands-on technical expert who thrives on solving complex challenges, mentoring fellow engineers, and shaping the future of our client’s software systems.
This position can be remote (CST Hours) or based out of Moline, IL.
Please Note: This is a W2 role, no C2C
Major Duties
- Lead engineering practices alongside engineering manager
- System Design Thinking for embedded/Linux development
- Product design, test and/or analysis experience
- Develop, code, configure, and test programs and systems for applications
- Evaluate and implement enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications
- Analyze assignments and determines software specifications that must be fulfilled to achieve objectives
- Execute necessary documentation as needed
- Collaborate with other relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs
- Follow industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation
- Mentor junior software engineers within the team and across multiple products.
Required Skills (MUST HAVE)
- Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in C++ software development.
- Advanced C++: Deep, hands-on experience designing and developing with modern C++ features, including multithreading, advanced memory management, the Standard Template Library (STL), and object-oriented design principles.
- Embedded & Linux: Extensive experience with software design and development in embedded environments and/or on Linux platforms.
- Design Patterns: Working knowledge of common software design patterns and their application.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to analyze complex assignments, determine software specifications, and deliver effective solutions
Preferred Qualifications
The following skills will help you stand out:
- Experience with embedded C++ and automotive protocols such as CAN, J1939, or UDS.
- Experience with test automation and CI/CD build processes and configuration.
- Experience with modern developer tools such as Visual Studio, CMake, Conan, and GDB.
Compensation Range: $55 -80/hour DOE
The range provided is our reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and location.
