Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Compensation Manager to lead the design, implementation, and administration of our compensation programs. This role is instrumental in driving competitive, compliant, and data-informed pay practices that align with our organizational goals. You will oversee a range of initiatives—from job evaluation and market analysis to compensation systems and pay policies—ensuring our programs support talent attraction, retention, and reward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, execution, and maintenance of the company’s compensation philosophy, structures, and plans.

  • Guide, mentor, and develop the compensation team through consistent feedback and leadership.

  • Analyze market trends and partner with key stakeholders to maintain competitive and business-aligned compensation offerings.

  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations.

  • Establish and manage processes for creating, maintaining, and updating job descriptions to ensure accuracy and alignment with market benchmarks.

  • Direct participation in compensation surveys—including survey selection, submission, and data analysis—to benchmark and validate pay ranges.

  • Lead the annual review process of survey data, base pay guidelines, and the evaluation of short- and long-term incentive targets.

  • Oversee the selection and management of third-party compensation tools and vendors, including HCM configuration, testing, and integration of compensation platforms.

  • Train and advise managers on compensation systems, policies, procedures, and system-based pay and incentive processes.

  • Develop and deliver clear, engaging compensation communications for both employees and leadership.

  • Represent the organization in industry forums, roundtables, and steering committees relevant to compensation.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3+ years of experience leading core human resources functions, with a strong emphasis on compensation.

  • Proven experience managing a team, providing day-to-day leadership and professional development.

  • Demonstrated ability to research, reconcile, and analyze compensation data, and present actionable recommendations.

  • Strong experience developing policies, procedures, surveys, reports, and employee-facing communication.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of organizational structure, compensation principles, and HR operations.

  • Direct compensation experience (job architecture, annual review process, geo-difference review, etc.) [Not so heavy on the executive comp; “true” compensation experience] ( Must have)

  • Minimum of 5-7+ years of direct compensation experience  ( Must have)

  • Experience leading high performing teams ( Must have)

  • Experience working with compensation-related systems (e.g., Human Capital Management platforms, job description tools, market survey tools).

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).

  • Strong analytical and statistical skills; ability to apply quantitative methods to compensation analysis.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting to all levels of leadership.

  • Strategic thinking combined with strong attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Proven ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and influence stakeholders.

  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional integrity.

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) – Preferred

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) – Preferred
