Graphic Designer (Part-time)

Overview

This is a remote freelance design role averaging approx. 20 hours/month, and requires availability for communication and design deliveries from 9 AM – 5 PM PST.

This is a unique opportunity to craft compelling visuals that resonate with millions of passionate readers worldwide. As a key member of the creative team, you will shape the visual narrative of this beloved platform, influencing how readers discover and engage with literature.

As a Contract Visual Designer, you will be instrumental in creating high-impact social media content, working within established brand guidelines while injecting your own innovative flair. You’ll collaborate with a dynamic team of designers, editors, marketers, and producers, ensuring a cohesive visual identity across all platforms. This role requires a strong design sensibility, typographic expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and a passion for creating engaging visual experiences.

What You’ll Do:

• Design eye-catching static graphics, animations, GIFs, and short-form videos optimized for various social media platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a unified and cohesive brand experience.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a keen eye for detail and delivering high-quality work.
• Leverage brand guidelines and templates to create consistent, on-brand visuals.
• Generate multiple design concepts, exploring innovative approaches while adhering to brand standards.
• Utilize and adapt existing libraries of illustrations and visual elements to create fresh and engaging content.
• Respond to design feedback efficiently, revising and delivering assets promptly.
• Maintain exceptional quality control, paying close attention to design details, typography, and copy.
• Ensure design requirements (specs, formats, file size) are met in accordance with project guidelines.
• Contribute to the development of new templates and visual design systems.
• Design assets for multi-channel campaigns, including email marketing and advertisements.

Must-Haves:

• An online portfolio showcasing your experience in creating branded designs for social media, marketing, and editorial content.
• 3-4+ years of experience in creating static graphics, animations, GIFs, and short-form videos tailored to specific audiences.
• Expert knowledge of Figma and working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience creating new templates and contributing to visual design systems.
• Designing for multi-channel campaigns, including email marketing and ads.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $47.53 to $52.82 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
