Electrical Distribution System Component Engineer

We are seeking an EDS Engineer. This person must have a minimum of 5+ years’ experience specifically designing electronic control modules. This will include things like connectors and terminals, grommets, shields, or troughs. Wire harness design and release is preferred as well. 

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
• Be responsible for the design of all EDS components including shields, troughs, connectors & terminals, and power distribution components. You will cover from clean sheet of paper through virtual development, testing/sign-off and manufacturing launch for Scout all-electric pick-up and rugged SUVs.
• Work with Purchasing and Finance counterparts to develop technical specifications in support of the quoting and sourcing process for components under your control.
• Develop and maintain a standard library of core EDS components aligned with global group owners that can be used in the design of EDS wiring and power distribution systems.
• Work with Cariad, and suppliers to define and release all EDS and power distribution components.
• Be part of a diverse team fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, promoting continuous learning and professional development among team members.
• Perform virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
• Ensure designs conform to safety standards and U.S. government regulations.
• Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly.
• Contribute to the design of production facilities for trucks & SUVs.
• Manage supplier resources efficiently to deliver component designs that meet cost, timing, and quality targets.

What you’ll bring
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a relevant field.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical wire harness and/or power distribution components design and release, and relevant automotive assignments, covering all phases of product development (design, test, and launch).
• Strong technical skills and expertise in wire harness component design and release, employing a six-sigma approach to engineering design and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.

This is an onsite/hourly contract role in Novi. Candidates must be eligible to work in the US without a sponsorship.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $44-45 per hour depending on experience. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
