Aquent Studios is seeking a Technical Writer to work closely with our project manager and client teams. The Technical Writer develops, writes, and edits documentation, web information, and service and support content for a well-known tech client.

This is project-based and may vary between 30 – 40 hours weekly. This role is remote and aligned with Mountain Daylight Time.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Author, manage, and update content using Tridion, Oxygen XML, and the DITA framework for technical documentation, including service, support, and troubleshooting documents, and web-based training materials. Experience with other CMS is acceptable!

  • Develops and writes outlines, drafts and final deliverables for review by the customer. 

  • Writes content relating to computer technology 

  • Exhibits an excellent customer service attitude at all times. 

  • Works on large and complex technical writing assignments with minimal supervision. 

  • Maintains detailed knowledge of relevant style guides. 

  • Aligns with the goals, strategies and objectives of both Aquent and the customer and works to ensure those directives are met. 

  • Strives to become an “information expert” on the product or functionality being documented and provides recommendations and ideas to the Aquent project team on presentation, structure and organization of the materials. 

  • Proactively informs the Project Manager and/or Resource Manager about project status, issues or concerns, including issues of scope, schedule, process, and quality. 

  • Adheres to the quality-assurance (QA) process identified by the client and/or by the Aquent Resource Manager or Project Manager. 

  • Takes ownership of all interim and final deliveries; e.g., makes sure deliverables conform to set standards, etc. 

  • Keeps current on tools and processes used by our clients. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (required)

  • Master’s degree in related field (preferred) 

  • Excellent writing and editing skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Understanding of software (drivers, installers, utilities), product development, product integration

  • Strong working knowledge or experience with Microsoft Excel, and SharePoint

  • Experience with Google Drive and Google Sheets

  • Excellent client communication skills

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Proficient in structured content development and reuse methodologies. Ensure content adheres to established standards and guidelines, including DITA-compliant XML authoring.

  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience working in the high tech industry working with multi-faceted, technically complex projects

  • Knowledge of writing with localization in mind

  • Keen eye for detail and an excellent ability to organize information into a structured format

  • Experience working in the high tech industry working with multi-faceted technically complex projects which have required interaction with numerous people

  • Proven collaborative skills in a virtual and in-office team environment

  • Basic understanding of mark-up language (HTML or XML) and content management concepts

  • Experience with some type of content management system is desired

Other Requirements

Compensation Range: $32 – $35 hrly

The range provided is our reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and location.
