Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to join our client’s growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing, managing, and implementing the organization’s database systems and structures. You will play a crucial role in designing and optimizing data models and database architectures to meet business requirements and ensure data quality. As a key contributor, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the integrity, security, and accessibility of data through comprehensive database strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Management Systems: Establish and maintain standards, guidelines, and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design, logical database structure, capacity planning, external data interface specifications, data loading plans, data maintenance strategies, and security policies.

• Design & Documentation: Document and communicate database design concepts, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements. Work to ensure the effective and secure management of data across platforms.

• Database Evaluation & Installation: Evaluate and install database management systems, ensuring they meet operational needs and are scalable for future growth.

• Program Development: Code complex programs and derive logical processes on technical platforms, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.

• UI & Reporting: Build user interfaces, screens, and reports. Assist in the design of business application prototypes and contribute to the development of test application code in a client-server environment.

• Expertise in Data Structures: Provide expertise in designing, negotiating, and defending database tables and fields, ensuring they meet business needs and technical specifications.

• Business Requirements Adaptation: Work with modeling and development staff to adapt business requirements, and develop data specifications, including tables and element attributes for applications.

• Data & Storage Optimization: Determine the appropriateness of data for storage, ensuring the optimum storage organization, and work on data storage solutions. Manage relational models by defining how tables relate to each other and how fields interact within tables.

• Quality Assurance & Testing: Participate in quality assurance activities and the development of test application code in a client-server environment to ensure robust, reliable, and accurate systems.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively document and communicate designs, solutions, and issues with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Technical Expertise:

  • Python: Expertise in Python for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Spark: Strong experience with Apache Spark, particularly in processing large-scale datasets.
  • SQL: In-depth knowledge of SQL for complex queries and data manipulation.
  • Hive: Experience with Hive for data warehousing and querying large datasets.
  • Data Modeling: Extensive experience in data modeling and database design, especially within relational and NoSQL environments.
  • Data Warehousing: Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, structures, and tools.
  • Spark Streaming: Hands-on experience with Spark Streaming for real-time data processing.

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Computer Science, Information Systems, etc.) and a minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience in database design, architecture, and management.
  • Alternative qualifications are acceptable:
    • PhD or Law degree + 8 years of experience
    • Master’s degree + 9 years of experience
    • Associates degree + 11 years of experience
    • High School diploma + 12 years of experience

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $70.2 to $78 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
