Aquent Studios is looking for a skilled Backend Engineer to join our team. You’ll be a key player in building and maintaining cutting-edge web applications. This position requires a problem-solver with solid experience in web technologies, designing, building, and integrating complex software solutions.
Major Purpose:
1) This position works with the engineering lead and tech leads to analyze requirements, prepare design specifications, implement and integrate features, coordinate with others, and write and test code to deliver moderately complex functionality on a complete product or significant portion of a product it supports.
2) This position works on continuous improvement projects (performance, quality, cost) based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications.
3) This position leads in resolution of medium to difficult technical issues.
4) This position leads to the resolution of production issues in a timely manner based on SLAs.
Major Duties:
1) Develops, codes, configures, and tests programs and systems.
2) Evaluates and implements enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications.
3) Collaborates with other relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs.
4) Follows industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation.
5) Ability to manage many competing priorities/requests in a fast-paced environment
6) Collaborate with UX designers and architects to bring designs to life.
7) Develop micro frontends and single-page applications.
8) Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code using TDD principles.
9) Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.

Required Skills:
1) Four or more years of experience in customer-facing web application development
2) Experience in Java 8 (or above), SpringBoot, SQL/Database – candidate must be able to showcase and discuss proven work projects
3) Microservice architecture
4) RESTful web services
5) JPA, Hibernate
6) TDD, Unit Test frameworks
7) SQL
8) Database – PostgreSQL, DB2
9) Experienced in AWS platform and related cloud technologies (AWS certification preferred)
10) Continuous Integration tool configuration and operation like Drone or Github Action
11) Experience working in an Agile-led team environment

1) GIT, Maven
2) Caching mechanism (Redis/Memcache)
3) Database: HANA, MongoDB
4) Code quality tools SonarQube
5) Elasticsearch
6) Security implementation using Okta OAuth
Location:
Remote — this job may be performed anywhere in the United States, but candidate must work in the Central time zone.
