The District Manager (Auto Repair) position can sit in either Greenville-Spartanburg, SC area or Charleston, SC area. It requires 4 days per week of local travel to visit auto repair franchise stores.
Total comp, including profit sharing, equals $120-150K+ annually plus benefits. The most successful District Managers will earn well over $150K total comp. Excellent opportunities for growth within company.
Qualified candidates should have:
- Auto repair industry experience
- A background as an auto repair technician (required)
- 5+ years as a District Manager or Area Manager within Auto Repair industry
- Outstanding verbal communication skills
- Strong people management skills
- Sales and/or people development + training skills
RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for providing Leadership to all General Shop Managers, Assistant Shop Managers, Service Advisors and/or other key personnel within the defined territory. Qualities of Leadership needed are to include (but are not limited to) Managing, Directing, Motivating, Hands on Training, Advising, Rewarding, Disciplining, Recruiting, Hiring and Firing of Local Management and Key Shop Personnel as required.

Responsible for working with the local Shop Management Team to develop, implement, and continuously manage both strategic & tactical, marketing & sales plans at all shop locations within their defined territory to generate business and sustain profitability.

Responsible for working with local Shop Management to develop recommendations & implement actions to improve shop operations, increase productivity, increase quality, increase car counts, increase customer satisfaction which result in “Top Line & Bottom Line” Growth.

Responsible for developing, establishing, managing, and assisting the local Shop Management Team in achieving specific measurable goals and objectives at each specific location within the defined territory.

Responsible for assuring that the local Shop Management team is properly leading, supervising and directing shop activities & employees within their specific locations in the defined territory.

Responsible, along with local Shop Management, for relationship building and negotiating with specific parts suppliers to maximize profitability, availability, timely delivery, warranty and labor claim coverage.

Responsible for assuring that local Shop Management is handling interactions with customers and employees in a professional manner and consistent with a policy of “Honesty and Integrity”.

Responsible for the handling, in a professional and appropriate way, any customer and employee issues or complaints that arise and can’t be resolved first by local Shop Management. This includes meeting with employees or customers in shop locations and implementing corrective procedures and/or training.

Responsible for assisting and guiding local Shop Management with discipline, rewards, recruiting, hiring and firing of employees. This will require face-to-face evaluations and interactions at store locations on a daily and/or weekly basis.

Responsible for working with Shop Managers and Assistant Managers in defining specific employee training and development needs to create long term employee retention and promote from within as employees develop targeted skill sets.

Responsible, along with local Shop Management, for assuring that company, local, state, and federal environmental protection policies and practices are being followed.

Responsible, along with Shop Management, for assuring that Company and OSHA safety practices and policies are being followed to assure a safe working environment.

Responsible, along with local Shop Management, for assuring that proper precautions are being taken to safeguard the health and safety of customers and visitors on the premises (free of trip, slip, fall hazards, and other unsafe conditions including sickness and infection)

Assist local Shop Management in maintaining general housekeeping and cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the shop and customer waiting areas, in addition to properly addressing areas of needed facility maintenance. This may require cleaning, moving equipment, painting, washing service bays, etc. in order to assure facilities are clean.

Responsible for working along with local Shop Management to safeguard and maintain company assets, such as shop tools & equipment, inventory, office equipment, supplies, etc. This will include periodic inventory of parts, tools and equipment.

Responsible for working with local Shop Management to assure proper ordering and tracking of inventory located on site to assure proper acquisition cost and to minimize the possibility of damage, shrinkage or theft.

Responsible for ensuring that area stores are operating at a level of acceptable profitability. (Goal of 15% Net) These levels are determined by Management including the Operations and Ownership. If any store is not operating profitably, it is the District Manager’s responsibility to determine the problems and to develop and implement steps to return the location to profitability immediately.

Responsible for monitoring effective management of labor and parts cost controls and performing hands on training if these areas are not managed properly.

Responsible for assuring that local Shop Management is properly handling cash on hand, bank deposits and assuring that required financial, shop performance and/or other data requested by the Head Office or Administrators is provided in a timely manner. This includes a periodic count of the cash drawer, audit of customer invoices and estimates, and performing hands on training to address any discrepancies.

Responsible for assuring that local Shop Management has the shop open and ready for business at 8 AM and does not close for business before the specified time.

In the absence of the Shop Manager, the District Manager will perform all duties of the Shop Manager in his/her absence for any reason. If the store does not have an active Shop Manager for any reason, the District Manager will be required to perform all the duties of the Shop Manager. In certain circumstances the District Manager may be required to also perform Technician duties if there is not one on duty.

If a store requires additional personnel for any reason the District Manager must be prepared to step in and assist in any role until the position can be filled.

Responsible for being present in area stores daily, providing hands on leadership, guidance, counseling, training, and support as required.

Responsible for responding to security alarms and securing premises after hours if needed.

Other duties and responsibilities as needed and required.
