Our client is looking for a highly dedicated Technical Localization Project Manager specializing in Machine Translation. They will work closely with internal and external partners to asses our Machine Translation needs, evaluate the quality, provide training to our team and suggest creative ways to improve the quality of Machine Translation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and drive localization automation and Machine Translation projects to the next level from efficiency, quality and cost perspective
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of various machine translation approaches, including statistical, neural, and hybrid models, to strategically select and implement the most effective solutions
  • Specialize in specific language pairs, offering expertise in the unique linguistic challenges posed by different language combinations and guiding the development of tailored translation models
  • Utilize edit distance algorithms and linguistic insights to measure and minimize the divergence between machine-generated and human-translated content
  • Apply advanced linguistic knowledge to refine and optimize machine translation models, focusing on linguistic aspect, cultural nuances, and regional variations
  • Collaborate to identify content for localizability, identify terminology, reference material, and assess quality of source content
  • Work closely with vendors, linguists, engineers, other localization teams and product mangers to integrate language solutions, fostering linguistic excellence
  • Train our linguistic network on machine translation concepts, guiding them on how to embrace this change
  • Evaluate the skillset of vendor post-editors and make recommendations
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of machine translation outputs, employing linguistic metrics, including edit distance, to enhance accuracy and fluency in translated content

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in a technical project management in localization role/s
  • Strong presentation, communication, collaboration, interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Able to focus on the details and have the capability to explain very complex issues to the cross-functional team who may not have deep understanding on localization and Machine Translation
  • Expert on Machine Learning and process automation and technology, out of the box thinking with data analytical skills to drive great customer experience
  • Strong knowledge on CMS and localization tools, capable to making influence to the source content
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing machine translation models, with a keen focus on linguistic considerations and a nuanced understanding of different translation methodologies
  • Experience in implementing and managing quality control processes for linguistic outputs, ensuring adherence to high-quality standards
  • Solid understanding of linguistic metrics and methodologies for evaluating machine translation quality, including BLEU scores, and edit distance algorithms
  • Ability to navigate and incorporate cultural nuances into machine translation models, ensuring translations resonate authentically with diverse global audiences
  • Proven ability to solve complex linguistic and technical challenges, coupled with the agility to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Language skills in one or more languages other than English, with a deep understanding of the linguistic challenges posed by different language families

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks applied in linguistic contexts, showcasing innovation in machine translation
  • Contributions to the field of machine translation, such as publications, conference presentations, or active participation in relevant linguistic and AI communities

Education:

  • BA or advanced degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, or a related field

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $70 to $80/hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
