XR Hardware Integration Specialist:

Our Client’s XR Product Management Team is eager to onboard a Hardware Integration Specialist. As a part of their esteemed team, your primary focus will be diving deep into the intricacies of hardware interaction, virtualization, and ensuring the most optimized interfaces with software systems. This role will leverage hands-on experimentation to develop, implement, and standardize cutting-edge hardware solutions across diverse configurations. A standout XR Hardware Integration Specialist will:

  • Thrive in researching, experimenting, and solving hardware-software interaction challenges.
  • Skillfully script and automate to refine and expedite hardware integrations.
  • Relish in tackling complex problems, especially those with limited documentation.
  • Work seamlessly with cross-functional teams, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.
  • Continuously upscale their knowledge, particularly within the Linux realm.
  • Adapt and evolve with changing technological landscapes and business needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engage in research and implementation initiatives centered on hardware-software interactions.
  • Develop and standardize technology frameworks, ensuring they are functional and consistent.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams to pinpoint and resolve hardware-centric issues.
  • Oversee firmware applications, especially in environments where system stability is critical.
  • Draft comprehensive documentation for various system interactions, ensuring they can be eortlessly replicated.

Must Haves:

  • A robust understanding of computer hardware nuances, specifically in the XR space.
  • Ability to transform design & engineering processes from physical to virtual through leverage of XR technologies.
  • Support development of Digital Twin/Digital Thread to optimize product development processes
  • Proficiency in navigating and utilizing Linux systems.
  • Professional experience working with XR headsets (bonus if you have done this for cars)
  • Knowledge depth in hardware subsystems, with a spotlight on video & GPU integrations.
  • Familiarity with virtual device handling, KVM, libvirt, qemu, and associated platforms.
  • Skilled in scripting, preferably in languages like bash or python.
  • Experience with version control systems, with Git at the forefront.

Desired Traits/Experience:

  • Comprehensive grasp of device-firmware dynamics like BIOS, VBIOS, NVM, etc.
  • Comfort navigating UEFI, efivars, and hardware device memory structures.
  • Previous exposure to various OS, virtualization technologies, and layered tech interactions would be a distinct advantage.
  • Outstanding communication skills, ensuring clarity both internally and externally.
