Associate Project Manager

Our top education client is looking to hire a junior project manager to join their team. Currently their office is in Upper Saddle River, NJ but will be moving later this year to Hoboken. This is a 6 month contract with potential to go full time for the right person.

The Associate Project Manager is responsible for managing projects and tasks related to program and project management within their Business Unit. Reporting to the Director of Program and Project Management, the Associate PM is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating projects and performing tasks in support of business unit goals.

· Bachelors Degree required

· Prefer 2+ years of experience or equivalent education (M.S/M.A)

· PMP certification a plus

· Strong PC & Mac Skills with proficiency in:

o Word, Excel, Power Point, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or other project management software, Business Objects, Adobe Acrobat

· Exceptional written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally to high-level executives, Presidents, and other internal staff and critical stakeholders.

· High level of critical thinking and analysis

· Project Management experience in an educational or professional setting preferred

· Ability to analyze and synthesize new information

· Must be self-motivated

Operational Responsibilities (40%):

· Plans, executes, and evaluates projects, processes, and tasks in support of business/departmental goals and the implementation of the Integrated Workflow.

· Creates, manages, maintains process documentation/websites for the department, and performs regular updates and improvements to content, format, delivery as needed.

· Performs project management tasks as needed.

· Works with the Director to identify and implement strategic/programmatic opportunities to drive efficiencies.

Financial Responsibilities (20%):

· Reports and analyzes fiscal plant spending; identifies opportunities for cost savings and/or efficiencies based on analysis of spending patterns and practices;

· Maintains/updates financial documents, information and tools.

· Maintains reporting oversight of department’s tracking to bonus goals and department OpEx.

People Responsibilities (20%):

· Manages and maintains the department Neo site; solicits feedback on content and improvements. Creates and evaluates surveys and questionnaires.

· Researches and recommends social media and other tools for communicating, sharing, and building community within the business and across Pearson.

· Manages the creation of and maintains departmental training materials.

Communication Responsibilities (15%):

· Manages, writes and disseminates department and business unit-wide communications.

· Researches and analyzes data, and writes reports as needed.

· Manages the creation, dissemination, and maintenance of department rosters/org charts.

· Creates and maintains group mailing lists used by department.

Department Logistics Responsibilities (5%):

· Schedules/attends department or other meetings for and with the Director/Team Leads.

· Runs status and other department reports, analyzes and summarizes as needed.

· Orders supplies, light filing, maintains equipment, maintains department records.

· Manages travel logistics and related expenses for Directors/Team Leads.
