Writer/Communications manager

Must have strong Writing skills. preferably within a corporate setting, ideally Financial Services/Insurance firm.

Primary responsibilities are preparing newsletters, content for intranet site and material for group events. Needs to be a skilled writer and project manager. Will manage writing, traffic and project mgmnt. Should have excellent communication skills, be able to think through a process, stick to a schedule and work well with a team. On-site in Hartford. 40 hr week.

Position Purpose

This position contributes to the effective execution of the strategic communications program. The Communications Project Coordinator / Consultant is responsible for ensuring the timely implementation of strategic communication plans and tactics under the supervision of the communication director and managers, and guided by established key messages, brand platforms and policies for the corporation and its various business units.

It is expected that this individual will spend approx. 30% of his / her time on internal news site and COE support, 30% of his / her time on miscellaneous projects as assigned by the communications managers, and 40% of his / her time supporting the TRS communications plan.

Major Responsibilities

• Help coordinate deliverables for communications plans and events, including establishing timelines and schedules and completing various internal communications deliverables (talking points, statements, newsletter articles, scripts, videos, photo galleries, Q&A documents, etc.).

Specific Responsibilities

• Assist with developing communications plans, materials and support for Prudential Retirement, including soliciting content from across the organization, researching and interviewing subject matter experts, writing materials and coordinating appropriate reviews and approvals. Distribute materials as directed, working closely with Digital team.

• Shadow members of the Strategic Communications team to assist in execution of materials, and develop solid working relationships with key stakeholders.

Core Competencies

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism or communications preferred. Five to 7 years of PR agency or financial services/insurance industry corporate communications experience preferred.

Demonstrated project management skills; takes direction well and clearly possesses the ability to translate strategy into tactical deliverables.
