Web Developer/Designer

Duties/Responsibilities for the Website Designer / Developer:
• Design, develop, and maintain high traffic, high visibility websites.
• Collaborate with customer subject matter experts and other staff to develop and update content on websites, social media channels, and other electronic communication mediums.
• Develop user interface prototypes and specifications to create customized web products that are easy-to-understand, user-friendly, accessible, and tailored to meet the needs of diverse audiences such as the general public, health professionals, and news media.
• Consistently ensure that standardized template, format, brand, and identity standards are met and approval processes are followed.
• Ensure that websites, social media, and other electronic communication products comply with Section 508 requirements (http://section508.gov/) and are easy, efficient, and effective to use for specific audiences.
• Provide a high standard of quality assurance when completing HTML, CSS, and other technical work required.
• Actively participate in meetings required for current projects, team or work unit activities, and mandatory training.
• Provide oral reports and print materials to colleagues and supervisors when required.
• Provide recommendations that reflect clear knowledge and application of current website design and development subject matter.
• Provide guidance to internal and external customers and partners on planning and conducting website projects and activities.
• Maintain a high level of customer service that is prompt, responsive, and courteous.
• Manage complex responsibilities well in a demanding and fast paced work environment with competing timelines by continually readjusting priorities.
• Proactively communicate plans and progress to coworkers, customers, and management.
• Provide support as needed during public health emergency activations. Provide on-call duty on weeknights and weekends if required.

Required Software/Application Skills:
• Website Programming – HTML5, JQuery, Javascript, CSS/CSS3, Web 2.0 Standards
• Website Development – Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, Adobe Acrobat Pro 10
• Website Graphic Design – Photoshop CS5
• Office Production - Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Education: Additional Job Details: Required Personal/Professional Skills:
• At least 3 years demonstrated proficiency in website design, development, and maintenance
• Clear understanding of website design and development best practices
• Knowledgeable of Section 508 requirements and website accessibility
• Familiarity with social media channels, website analytics, metrics, and information architecture
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to respond effectively to changing events and competing priorities

Desired Skills:
• Prior CDC, public health, or healthcare experience (to understand terminology)
• Experience with SEO and web analytics
• Experience using Beyond Compare 2.0 and Adobe Fireworks CS5
• Experience with SharePoint (as a user)
• Experience with XML

*Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field combined with a minimum of 5 years experience in website design, development and maintenance required. Associate's Degree with a minimum of 8 years experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.
